Global Village Program

You can make a difference by being part of the growing effort to eliminate poverty housing by joining or creating your own Global Village team.

What is Global Village?

  1. The Global Village Programmme offers international volunteers the exciting opportunity to take part in house building and renovating projects.
  2. Global Village trips last two weeks with usually one week of building and one week of travel and local sightseeing.
  3. International volunteers work and interact with Habitat homeowners and the local community to build homes as well as communities.

No construction experience required! There will be a local construction supervisor on site to show you what to do. You could be digging foundations, plastering brick walls, sifting sand, hammering, sawing, painting and moving materials from point A to point B.

Who can participate in Global Village?

  1. Individuals – 'Open teams' are available for anyone to join. A team leader has already been appointed  and will be recruiting team members and organising the trip.
  2. Groups – If you or your organisation can get together 12 or more people, you could form a Global Village team. A team leader for your group, will get trained up by Habitat for the adventure and will organise your own 'closed team'.
  3. Volunteers aged 14 and above can participate in Global Village trips doing appropriate building activities.

Where does Global Village build?

  1. Global Village teams travel to and build in countries all over the world.
  2. Destinations in Asia Pacific include: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
