Global Village Program
You can make a difference by being part of the growing effort to eliminate poverty housing by joining or creating your own Global Village team.
What is Global Village?
- The Global Village Programmme offers international volunteers the exciting opportunity to take part in house building and renovating projects.
- Global Village trips last two weeks with usually one week of building and one week of travel and local sightseeing.
- International volunteers work and interact with Habitat homeowners and the local community to build homes as well as communities.
No construction experience required! There will be a local construction supervisor on site to show you what to do. You could be digging foundations, plastering brick walls, sifting sand, hammering, sawing, painting and moving materials from point A to point B.
Who can participate in Global Village?
- Individuals – 'Open teams' are available for anyone to join. A team leader has already been appointed and will be recruiting team members and organising the trip.
- Groups – If you or your organisation can get together 12 or more people, you could form a Global Village team. A team leader for your group, will get trained up by Habitat for the adventure and will organise your own 'closed team'.
- Volunteers aged 14 and above can participate in Global Village trips doing appropriate building activities.
Where does Global Village build?
- Global Village teams travel to and build in countries all over the world.
- Destinations in Asia Pacific include: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
