Victorian Bushfire Volunteer Registration

Thank you for supporting Habitat for Humanity’s Victorian Bushfire Appeal and for offering to volunteer.  We don’t yet know the full scope of the help that will be needed, but we do know families who survived urgently need our help as they prepare to relocate or rebuild. 

During the tough months ahead, each family’s requirements will be assessed.  Many families who have no insurance, or who are underinsured, will need a 'hand up' to rebuild with the hands-on help of Habitat volunteers and the generosity of many Australians just like you.

Governance

Habitat for Humanity Australia (Victoria) Inc is an incorporated Association with:

• Registration Number AOO47829W
• Income Tax exemption
• Deductible Gift Recipient registration
• Endorsed for Charity Tax Concession

The Victorian Affiliate is managed by the Affiliate Board and the Executive Director.  The Board comprises a representative director from each of the active Chapters together with directors elected for their specific expertise and contribution to the program.

The Affiliate is supported by the National Office of Habitat for Humanity Australia and is represented on the National Board. The Affiliate manages the program in Victoria and as the legal entity is responsible for all matters of governance including finance, legal, land procurement, program priority, policies and procedures.

Chapters

The Chapters are unincorporated Branches of the Victorian Affiliate. With guidance and support from the Affiliate the Chapters manage the Family Selection, Family Nurture and House Construction processes. The Chapters are a part of each local community and together with individual and corporate volunteers, work with the selected family to build the Habitat houses.

The Building Program

Habitat for Humanity Victoria has built 30 houses with 4 more nearing completion. A further 8 houses are in planning stage to be started over the next few months: These will be at Shepparton, Wyndham Vale, Warragul and Aspendale.

Further projects are also being considered at Castlemaine, Colac and other locations around Victoria. 

How can you help Habitat Victoria?

Habitat for Humanity and Habitat ReStore are currently seeking Volunteers for a number of differing roles. From building on site working with the Habitat Families, to admin and warehousing skills in our new premises in Ringwood.

Can you supply building materials for a Habitat Home?
Can you volunteer your time and/or Trade skills
Can you or do you know of suitable products for ReStore that can be sold to the trade or public?
Would you make a donation to help another family needing a "Hand Up"!
