Schools - Volunteering Overseas

Your students can have an amazing experience whilst helping develop communities overseas by joining a Global Village build.

Schools that have already taken part, say their students (and teachers) increase their awareness, sense of purpose, team building and social skills as they build homes for families and communities in need.

Lots of schools are now choosing Global Village trips as a unique alternative to the traditional schoolies week experience.

Global Village gives the chance for teacher/student teams to build homes in the Asia Pacific and other near-neighbouring regions. Beforehand, teams plan and organise fundraising activities and the logistics of their trip. Students develop their communication, planning, organisation and networking skills while having fun doing something really worthwhile.

Working on a Global Village build site, side-by-side with the community, offers a memorable and life changing experience. As one teacher says:

"The build was an extremely worthwhile experience for the group of school students. They learnt building skills and were shocked that the family would live in a three room house, realising the vast difference between their own lives and those in Cambodia. They were able to see the appreciation of the home owner; his smile said everything, giving them a sense of satisfaction that they had contributed in a small way to improving someone's life"
