Welcome to Habitat for Humanity Queensland

Habitat for Humanity Queensland has established Chapters in Brisbane, Ipswich and Gympie and to date has completed eight homes housing 35 people. Thank you to all who have volunteered and donated to help make this possible.

Queensland Flood Response

Habitat Queensland is responding to communities that were impacted by the floods at the beginning of 2011. We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with our Brush with Kindness program for Queensland Flood Relief. The Brush with Kindness program assists families that were devastated by the floods by repairing homes and rebuilding lives. The work includes household renovations and upgrades such as painting, landscaping and other minor repairs, and will be completed using volunteer labour and gifts in kind, where possible.

Growth in Queensland

Habitat Queensland is growing as an organisation and we are recruiting new members and volunteers to work with us. We are currently renovating a community building in Woolloongabba in partnership with Rotary that will become the new Habitat Queensland office and have developed our strategic direction for the next 3 years. We are preparing to make a real difference to housing issues in Queensland.

Revitalising Neighbourhoods

Habitat for Humanity Queensland is using a new structure to identify local housing needs for people on low incomes and will assess the best response to that need using the following services:

  • Building new homes for families to buy;
  • Renovating homes;
  • Repairing and maintaining existing homes (Brush with Kindness).

With the impact of the floods we will also be Rebuilding Neighbourhoods. These services could be available to community organisations at a discounted rate, on a case by case basis, to assist them in revitalising their premises.

To support new and existing homeowners in maintaining their properties we also offer homeowner education in collaboration with local community organisations.
