Last year with your support and donations we were

Last year with your support and donations we were able to:
🏠 14,395 people were helped last year access safe shelter, water hygiene and sanitation and or livelihood training.
⚒️ Train masons
💧 Provide toilets, tap-stands and a community water tank
⚠️ Build a community evacuation shelter
💦 In Fiji 60 people have been trained in 3 communities for improved access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene

#DidYouKnow that at Habitat we work in Disaster Response? We know that for every $1 spent in disaster risk reduction $7 is saved when a disaster strikes. Here is how Habitat's training Participatory Approach for Safe Shelter Awareness (PASSA) helped 18 year old Rekha.

Rekha was directly involved in her community and with other members in the planning and implementing activities related to shelter security. "In PASSA meetings I learnt how important safe housing is to protect us from natural disasters like floods and earthquakes," explains 18 year old Rekha. Rekha became the sole breadwinner for her family shortly after her mother�s health deteriorated leaving them in a vulnerable situation financially. Rekha's house was built with mud, a thatched roof that could be blown by heavy wind and no windows or doors. With no privacy or safety, Rekha was selected as a beneficiary to receive a new house after being identified as living in the most vulnerable household. Now, Rekha feels that her new house has given her family not only protection, but positive energy to manage and continue her studies and provide an environment for her mother's health to improve.

#DidYouKnow We work in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam supporting communities to access improved water and sanitation. This includes construction of new or improved water supply facilities such as wells, water tanks and water treatment systems, as well as sanitation facilities such as drainage, toilets/latrines and bathing/handwashing facilities. We work with #ANCP @DFAT on these projects to continue to support communities across the Asis and the Pacific.

Habitat for Humanity South Australia is in it's fifth month of supporting property owners impacted by the 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfire in the Adelaide Hills. Here are our Bushfire Recovery Program achievements thanks to the support of generous corporate donors, individual donors and volunteers:

🏠 61 property owners assisted (Some owners have received
assistance on multiple days)
🏠 150 unique volunteers engaged
🏠 1,700 hours of volunteer time
