At Habitat, we do much more than build homes. Habitat and the United Nation's shared definition of adequate housing includes all aspects of basic services such as the provision of water and sanitation along with upgrades. Habitat’s scope of practice focuses on five important goals:⁠
– Eliminating poverty by achieving security of tenure⁠
– Attaining gender equality through access to tenure, infrastructure and adequate space⁠
– Providing access to clean water and sanitation⁠
– Promoting affordable and clean energy⁠
– Developing sustainable cities and communities by ensuring all people have access to safe, affordable, and serviced housing⁠

📢 Impact Stories | Bangladesh Project | Meet Aklima⁠

Aklima lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh with her 4 daughters. The family has limited access to adequate and safe hygiene facilities, and as such are highly vulnerable to COVID-19. Aklima shares, “We are fearful as this new strain is different and more contagious. We are also very worried because we do not have any means to protect ourselves from the virus. But Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh has provided hygiene kits for my family which we are now regularly using to keep us safe and protected. We are very much thankful to Habitat for Humanity for such blessings”. This project is in partnership with @dfat #ANCP #PartnershipsForRecovery and our country partner Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh.⁠
