Helping families Repair, Recover and Rebuild from the Disaster

In June 2021 Victoria was impacted by recent storms in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. 98 homes were left uninhabitable and a further 86 were habitable but had been significantly damaged. Habitat for Humanity Australia and our volunteers are on the ground helping families through our Build Back program supporting Aussie families by removing debris and repairing properties.

What is Habitat for Humanity’s Storm Recovery Program?

Habitat plans to run volunteer days helping vulnerable homeowners who’ve been impacted by the recent storms in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We want to assist those in need to tidy their properties. This can include minor repairs of storm damage, cutting up and removal of tree debris, etc. The recipients of our assistance are unable to do these tasks themselves due to factors beyond their control.

Storm Recovery Program Output

Habitat is committed to providing recovery services to storm affected residents. The free service offered by Habitat involves:

Clean-up, salvage, sorting and piling of debris including homes, sheds and outbuilding, fencing and trees.

Work will be undertaken to improve the living conditions of the family/resident we are helping.
