Lending a hand in the Hunter Valley

A small team of volunteers from Newcastle and the Hunter region set about transforming Mrs Perrin’s gardens after it was damaged in the storms and floods that hit the area earlier this year.

Mrs Perrin had struggled to maintain her garden previously and through our Brush with Kindness program, our volunteers spent the day creating a low maintenance garden for her to enjoy.
Mrs Perrin was able to move back into her house after new carpet was laid, shortly after our Brush with Kindness activity. Mrs Perrin is one of the many families battling hard to bring normality back into her life after the devastating storms and floods that recently struck the Hunter region.
In the last financial year, Habitat NSW has held over 35 Brush with Kindness activities with the assistance of 350 volunteers to assist with post disaster clean-up efforts and help families in need.
