Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

26th October - 2nd November 2019

Many people across Sri Lanka are living in inadequate housing due to civil conflict, which ended in 2009. Your team will provide a family in need hope for the future by empowering them with a safe and decent home.

Poverty in Sri Lanka continues to be a challenging problem. Living standards and shelter are poor for many people, with almost 45% of the population living on less than $5 a day.
This project focuses on constructing homes for the families affected by the civil disturbance prevailed in the country before 2009. Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka is one of the four implementing agencies involved in construction as part of the Indian Housing Project, and will undertake the construction of 300 houses in Batticaloa district, Sri Lanka.

There are hundreds of families that lack the capacity to build a safe and decent house on their own, often living in cramped and unsafe houses that lack proper sanitation facilities.
