Arrival and departure

Your build has been confirmed. You can now book your flights.

  • Please arrive in Kathmandu on or before the 7th March
  • Habitat staff will be on the ground ready to meet the team on the 7th, either Dan or Jesse will be at the airport on the 7th to assist with catching a cab from the airport to the Hotel Holy Himalaya, Kathmandu
  • The team will stay in Kathmandu for one night before heading to Nepalgunj on Sunday (approx 55min flight)
  • So you can continue travels or arrange your own activities, accommodation in Kathmandu on the 14th is NOT arranged by Habitat or covered in your build week costs. Please arrange your own accommodation on this night 14th March
  • We recommend booking international travel to depart on or after the 15th of March. This allows for any potential travel delays in returning to Kathmandu (E.g. poor weather could delay arrival from Nepalgunj)
  • STA Travel know and understand our programs and can give you the best possible flight information. You can either contact them at habitat.au@statravel.com or call them on 1300 733 035
  • Please insert your flight details when filling out the ‘Your Details Form’ once they are confirmed.

Guides and Manuals

What to Pack - Global Village

What to pack

IMPORTANT: There are luggage restrictions in place for our internal flight return to and from Nepalgunj. You are allowed 25kg checked luggage and 5kg carry on, so please do adhere to these guidelines for your international flights too.

Please find here a list of important items to remember:

To reduce our footprint in the communities we work in, we ask all volunteers to bring their own  refillable water bottle with them- sometimes even two is helpful on the site, so one can keep cool in the esky while you build.

Habitat Nepal require long pants to be worn at all times on the build site- this is both for safety AND respectful toward cultural sensitivities (Men and Women). Tip: go to a second hand store, like St. Vinnies and buy clothes which you won’t mind if/ when they get ruined.

Facebook Group

Please join the Facebook group if you haven’t already done so, and introduce yourself to the rest of the team.
