Local Village Build, Victoria

2nd - 3rd April, 2022

Join us on this Local Village build where you will be on the ground restoring hope to families and communities affected by domestic violence and displacement.

Benwerren, is a family refuge service for those who face domestic violence, mental health issues and other intersectional vulnerabilities. Benwerren serves and strengthens families by supporting women and children in need. Providing practical support in the form of ‘time out’ in a peaceful environment, whilst ministering to the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual well-being of women and children.

Habitat belives that a home is so much more than a roof over your head. With your support as a volunteer, we can help rebuild these families lives.

You will work alongside the families affected, making a bike shed, fencing clearing bush for bushfire safety, installing benches, making a playground and further general maintenance. As a team we will achieve so much more in a few days than Benwerren would have achieved in months, saving them so much time, money and worry.

Friday:

Check into your accommodation, invigorating the local economy. Nestled among leafy canopies, down winding lanes and in lush, leafy towns, you’ll find a boutique hotel or accommodation (booked for you by Habitat) for tucking yourself into a cosy retreat for the night, before the hard work begins.

Saturday:

Begin day one onsite where you will be working on one of the following projects: making a bike shed, fencing clearing bush for bushfire safety, installing benches, making a playground and further general maintenance.

Sunday:

You will spend day two working on one of the following projects: making a bike shed, fencing clearing bush for bushfire safety, installing benches, making a playground and further general maintenance. In the late afternoon the team will share a final farewell dinner before you return home for the evening.

At this time builds cannot accept volunteers from any states which are closed off to VIC. If you register for this build and your borders do close before the build we will put your funds on hold until you can once again cross the border.

Note: this experience will be limited to the first 20 people who register. Strict Covid-19 precautions will be taken to minimise risk to volunteers and the local community. In the case of Covid-19 affecting the dates or location (including border restrictions) of the build all build-related expenses can be refunded (excluding travel costs), and funds raised transferred to a build at a later date.

Should for any reason the Local Village Build have to be postponed to a later date, we will transfer all costs and fundraising on to another experience of your choosing (including overseas) with Habitat for Humanity Australia
