We’re for Australian Aid

Habitat for Humanity Australia is proud to join more than 50 other organisations as we support one of our greatest national accomplishments, Australian Aid.

Australia’s foreign aid budget has suffered from successive cuts. In just one year, the Government has cut $11 billion from aid funding. With 1 billion people still living in slums or other inadequate housing, this decision will impact the most extremely disadvantaged people in our region.

At Habitat, Australian Aid makes a huge difference in the lives of the families we work with – and if you’ve ever volunteered with our Global program, you would have seen it firsthand. From helping build a family a new home, to giving a community access to water and sanitation and providing training to teach households new skills, Australian Aid has an enormous impact in the lives of families in need.

The Campaign for Australian Aid is calling on us to show our support and celebrate our important contributions on the world stage, and ensure that as a nation we are for Australian Aid.

Add your voice to the movement to stand up for Australian Aid in 2015.

Australian aid campaigners have also launched a Fair Share food truck, inviting students to pay what they think is fair for the food. Celebrity chef, Adam Liaw has helped spearhead the campaign to highlight cuts to Australia’s overseas aid budget. See below for dates when the Fair Share food truck will be near you.
