What we do in New South Wales
Our corporate and individual volunteering program, Brush with Kindness, works in partnership with other non-government organisations to assist disadvantaged and low-income members of the community.
Brush with Kindness aims to revitalise the appearance of communities, encourage connections within the community and increase social inclusion, by mobilising teams of volunteers. Volunteer activities range from landscaping to minor repairs and small building projects.
Bushfire Recovery & Reslience
Habitat for Humanity Australia has committed to providing recovery services to people affected by the bushfires. The Disaster Recovery Team have been on the ground since the smoke cleared restoring hope to communities affected. We are on the ground in New South Wales helping salvage and rebuild, to assist homeowners.
Habitat is committed to providing recovery services and resilience services to fire affected residents and support residence to be prepared for the future Bushfires. The free service offered by Habitat involves Clean-up, salvage, sorting and piling of debris including homes, sheds and outbuildings, fencing and trees. Work will be undertaken to improve the living conditions of the family/resident we are helping.
Our volunteer program Local Village is a 4-day volunteer trip where any individual can join a team of volunteers on a life-changing adventure to come together and help rebuild communities that were affected by the 2019-2020 Bushfires. We’re currently providing help to families in both New South Wales and South Australia. Local Village is part of our Bushfire Recovery and Resilience program.
Home building program
In NSW we have shelter building programs where we are building units in partnerships with other Not for Profits to provided women and children escaping domestic violence a temporary home to live in. As part of the Bushfire Recovery Program, we were able to partner with a small group of families to provide temporary demountable homes that they could live in while their home was being rebuilt. Together, your organisation and Habitat for Humanity New South Wales can serve the needs of families facing inadequate affordable housing options in Australia. Our belief is that by working together, we can renew urban communities physically, socially and spiritually. Habitat for Humanity New South Wales actively seeks partnerships with organisations, businesses and local churches in order to assist them in achieving their goals to help disadvantaged families in their communities access housing solutions.
