Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Queensland
Habitat for Humanity Queensland has a range of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Generally we provide one-day volunteer opportunities for 8 to 15 people that run from 9am to 3 – 4pm
Our volunteer program works with disadvantaged people and community service organisations and may include landscaping, gardening, minor building projects, clean-up, painting and assembling flat packed furniture. Our staff organise and manage all aspects of the volunteer activity, supervise all work and provide all tools, safety equipment and materials required on the day. Refreshments and lunch is also provided for volunteers.
Corporate groups also have the option to book multiple activities throughout the year, or volunteer across several consecutive days. This allows different teams from same organisation to work across a single project.
Habitat for Humanity Queensland’s volunteer program relies on contributions from supporters and organisations. To cover costs and support the work of Habitat for Humanity, organisations are asked to make a financial contribution. Staff also have the option to fundraise and contribute to costs. This contribution helps to cover costs such as organising and supervision of the day, food and drinks, tools and materials, insurance and supports the wider work of Habitat for Humanity.
After the activity, volunteers are provided with a report that includes photos from the day.
Habitat for Humanity Queensland holds regular community volunteer days. Generally there are one to two volunteer days per month, on either weekdays or weekends.
